The Assistant Director serves a significant management role within the Financial Aid department by overseeing specific operations and personnel critical to its success. Along with this responsibility, the Assistant Director counsels and advises students and families regarding financing a Crown education including eligibility requirements, application procedures, available programs, budgeting and student loan debt management.  The Assistant Director reports to and represents the Director as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

·         Maintains strong level of customer service by counseling students and parents, in person, by telephone and email;

·         Coordinate and monitor federal and state programs including applicable data transmissions, reporting and reconciliation;

·         Process and assist with the administration of the federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs;

·         Assist and process all education loan programs including providing resources for students and families as well as processing and monitoring all student applications;

·         Supervise and be involved in the awarding of financial aid to students.  Revise student files as necessary;

·         Assist, review and complete verification for applicants selected according to the federal verification rules;

·         Process and assist in the administration of Return of Title IV Funds policies to ensure compliance with federal regulations;

·         Prepare reports on financial aid activities as requested and/or required;

·         Attend training and conferences as necessary to gain knowledge required to perform assigned duties;

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid Handbook;
  • Experience in a comprehensive financial aid office including both traditional and adult degree completion systems;
  • Experience with PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar, or other comparable college data systems;
  • Strong computer, analytical, speaking and writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, strategic planning, organizational, managerial and communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         A bachelor’s degree:

·         Minimum of three years of increased responsibility and success in a Financial Aid Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •      Master’s degree
