Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators
This committee is responsible for establishing financial aid awareness throughout the state. We do this by organizing and volunteering at the National College Fair as well as work together with MOHE and high school counselors to coordinate volunteers for FAFSA completion/information events.
What are we up to?
In this committee, our main event is participating in the National College Fair. Our role is to be a financial aid resource at the counseling center booth and to provide presentations on financial aid basic. This year the NCF was held on September 27-28. We also coordinate volunteers for FAFSA completion and information events. High school counselors, prospective students, and their parents rely on the MAFAA community to help them navigate through the complicated financial aid process. After the college fair, we brainstorm and tackle projects that promote early financial aid/literacy awareness. You'll have an opportunity to work on what you are passionate about regarding outreach and early awareness, so come with ideas!
The general commitment is 1.5 hours in monthly meetings. We may have one in-person meeting but all will be available via conference call. We also highly recommend the ability to volunteer at the National College Fair for at least one shift/presentation.
Financial Aid Nights
We are always seeking volunteers for financial aid nights. Please consider helping students understand and complete the FAFSA. These events occur all around the state so you can always find one close to you. Priority requests for volunteers are regularly sent to the MAFAA listserve or you can click below for more information.Learn More about Financial Aid Nights
