Job Summary
Assist in the preparation and revisions of financial aid awards, and provide financial aid counseling for students and their families. Works with students in all schools and targeted programs (i.e. BUILD, ActSix). Serves as the primary military certifying official on campus for all schools.
Responsibilities

Serves as the VA School Certifying Official for Bethel University.
- Responsible for completing all paperwork necessary to certify enrollment and changes in enrollment for students eligible for VA educational benefits.
- Maintains knowledge of VA benefits.
- Prepares financial aid awards, revisions and appeals.
- Counsels students and parents.
- Assist the financial aid guest reception process, which includes incoming phone calls, voice mails, email accounts and office visits.
- Assist with verification of financial aid records.
- Stays current on financial aid regulatory requirements.
- Special projects, clean-up reports and other duties
Required Skills
- Obtain and maintain certification as a School Certifying Official (SCO) for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Successfully completed Part 1 and Part 2 of the NASFAA University Certified Financial Aid Administrator Credential.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form to both individuals and groups.
- Organizational skills, ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Detailed-oriented, but able to see the whole picture and apply regulations to individual situations.
- Proven ability to work independently, and manage time, and work with confidential information.
Experience
3+ years of financial aid experience.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree.
