    Director of Financial Aid (Hybrid)

    Position Information: NWHSU is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to join our team as a Director of Financial Aid. Your expertise will play a crucial role in leading the financial aid department, providing strategic financial support to our students, administering financial aid programs, and contributing to the overall success of our institution. The Director of Financial Aid will manage a team of 2 staff and report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position provides the opportunity to ensure that students have the financial resources they need to pursue their academic goals.

    Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

    What you need to have?

    • Bachelors degree, required
    • Minimum 7 year's experience in financial aid administration.
    • 5+ years of management experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of state and federal financial aid rules and regulations.
    • Familiar with financial aid management systems and technology.

    The College Place Director - Minnesota 

    Job Summary

    Under limited direction, oversees and manages the establishment and operation of The College Place, a college access center and program of ECMC Group. Incumbent must be located in the northern region of Minnesota (e.g. Duluth, Bemidji, Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, etc.).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provides college access information, including FAFSA preparation and postsecondary admission advising, to the general public, high schools, or community organizations
    • Develops workshops for parents and students to further goals of the Center
    • Provides new ideas and innovations to further enhance the services provided by the Center
    • Provides expertise on all of ECMC’s college access and success programs including financial literacy and student loan repayment
    • Develops programs for The College Place and builds a library of materials and information services
    • Works with management in maintaining an operational budget
    • Coordinates marketing efforts throughout region with corporate office
    • Works closely with the other The College Place access centers directors for training, sharing ideas and mutual support
    • Builds and maintains a network of contacts throughout the educational community in the region to support the goal of The College Place to help students succeed
    • Establishes administrative policies and manages the operation of the center on a day-to-day basis
    • Develops, with management, a strategic plan for the center
    • Develops, in coordination with other ECMC business units, all print materials for the Center
    • Gathers statistics and feedback to determine effectiveness of Center
    • Works with management and ECMC Corporate Services to manage the space design and utilization, furnishings, equipment, and security
    • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time

    POSITION PURPOSE

    As part of Pine Technical and Community College’s commitment to student success and ongoing institutional effectiveness, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating retention-based outreach and student success initiatives for a diverse student population, specifically first-generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented.

    The position will provide academic and financial aid advising to current and prospective students with an emphasis on relationship building between the student and advisor. In addition, the position coordinates and facilitates the execution of various state and federal grants with a primary focus on serving underrepresented students. This position provides academic and financial aid advising, training, and process guidance to students, program faculty, counselors, and others on matters related to transfer and consortium agreements. This position will work closely with the Registrar function as needed, including but not limited to Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) maintenance, student registration system edits, and campus registration events.



    PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

    1. Provide academic and financial advising to continuing students utilizing knowledge of current curriculum, tutorial services, financial aid, scholarships, and community resources to help students reach their educational goals.

    o Meet with students individually or in groups regularly to monitor academic progress and facilitate students’ development of educational goals, academic success strategies, and course planning through appreciative advising.

    o Provide first-level financial aid advising, assisting with the sound administration of the federal and state aid program as well as college foundation scholarship advising.

    o Facilitate and encourage the use of student services areas, e-services and online resources, DARS, and academic/career planning resources/materials with students.

    o Assess and meet individual students and target group needs by understanding and supporting college-wide services, policies and procedures, and community resources, when appropriate, to include referrals to campus and community resources.

    o Address advising concerns with specific populations including but not limited to; program faculty advisors, first-generation, culturally diverse students, students with disabilities, LGBTQ+, single parents, displaced workers, Veterans, ESOL, and non-traditional students.

    2. Grant Program Development/Records and Documentation

    o Facilitate various state and federal grants including developing and implementing work plans, collecting and evaluating data, meeting reporting requirements, managing grant budgets, coordinating grant events, and providing support for eligible grant students.

    o Develop and implement policies and procedures related to grant activities, including Connect 4 Success (SNAP Employment and Training).

    o Conduct ongoing student case management and tracking as required by various state and federal grants.

    o Enter and report data using approved grant databases and procedures.

    o Ensure all required reports and records are following mandated deadlines, data security and privacy best practices, FERPA rules and regulations, and other pertinent policies and legislation.

    o Work collaboratively with PTCC Business Services and other campus stakeholders to ensure grant activities are coordinated and integrated within appropriate college departments and offices, and that grant requirements and deadlines are met.

    o Identify grant opportunities and assist in grant writing.


    3. Transfer system support.

    o Implement the credit transfer process, including transfer evaluation, while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and system regulations, policies and procedures ensuring data accuracy and student record maintenance.

    o Manage online transfer resources, identify and troubleshoot registration issues, and support academic affairs curriculum efforts from a student record perspective.

    o Lead and process consortium agreements with students and external partners.

    o Act as a resource for directing, training, and supporting student record systems and processes (e.g. DARS, Transferology, ISRS, U.Achieve, or future record programs and technology) and PTCC/MinnState policy interpretation.


    4. Support Pine Technical and Community College and departmental mission, vision, and strategic goals as assigned by the supervisor or college administration.

    o Develop peer networking opportunities to support organic student connections, resources and social identity for underserved student populations and student groups (such as parenting students, first-generation college students, underrepresented students, etc.).

    o Serve as a liaison between internal Minnesota State workgroups and external partners in relation to student retention, transfer, and success initiatives.

    5. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth function of the college and maintain the reputation of the college as a viable community partner.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with team members to update financial aid application materials and procedures and regulations and requirements change.
